Baal Lok Kathayein, is a classic collection of endearing stories based on folk tales of Maithili, Bhojpuri, Angika, Magdhi and Chhota Nagpuri, the main dialects of the states of Bihar and Jharkand. The stories are abstract versions of the folk tales, which retain their core concepts and are portrayed in a new way. The collaboration of Manoram, the author’s spouse, an accomplished writer herself, has lent more weight to the tales, as she was an adept narrator of the folk tales. The stories were published in Sapthalik Hindustan, and have now been compiled to provide more fodder for the imagination of the children.
